Republic’s Ryan Way captured All-American honors in two events at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics in North Carolina. Way finished 5th in the two events he entered: the 3,200-meter run and the 2,000-meter steeplechase. The top eight finishers qualify as All-Americans. Way competed in the 17- and 18-year-old division.
Way ran the 3,200-meter event in 9:11.637. He finished the steeplechase in 6:24.233.
Republic’s Megan Hergesheimer also competed in the event at North Carolina A & T University, in the 15- and 16-year-old division. Hergesheimer finished 14th overall in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 11:22.214. Hergesheimer also qualified for nationals in the 1,500-meter run, but didn’t make the finals in North Carolina.
