Nathan Strobel struck out 16 batters, but Webb City scraped together enough offense to get by Republic 3-1 Thursday night.

Strobel struck out six batters in a row on two different occasions. He allowed two earned runs on four hits. He also walked two.

Webb City broke ahead in the 1st inning when Seth Watkins doubled home a run after an error by the Tigers. Republic tied the game in the bottom of the 1st when Riley Norris singled home Parker Nelson.

The top of the 3rd inning was the difference. Strobel struck out the side, but in-between, the Cardinals retook the lead. Cade Crouch’s two-out single scored two runs to make the score 3-1 Cardinals.

The Republic offense wasn’t able to put much together against Crouch, who started on the mound for Webb City. He allowed just one run on six hits in six innings. Trenton Moeller worked the 7th inning to get the save.
