Republic mounted another late rally, but fell a run short in a 6-5 loss to Bolivar at home Thursday.
The Tigers trailed 5-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th, and scored four runs and had the tying run on base with one out after a Dustin Eby double. But Cole Hurst hit a line shot directly at the left fielder, and Hunter Gill struck out to end the game.
Clayton Rose was 3-for-3 to lead the Tigers. Nathan Strobel added two hits for Republic.
The Tigers fall to 4-8.
