Republic Pulls Away in 2nd Half at Waynesville

Screen Shot 2013 02 20 at 9 44 45 PMRepublic’s big men combined for 30 points as the Tigers used a big 2nd half to record a 51-37 win on the road at Waynesville. Marcus Miller led the Tigers with 12 points, and Grant Hancock added ten. Cody Geiger contributed eight.

Republic led 9-8 after a defensive 1st quarter, but Waynesville was first to get its offense moving. Waynesville outscored Republic 16-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-21 lead at half.

In the 3rd quarter, it was defense that helped the Tigers turn the game around. Republic held Waynesville to only six points in the quarter, and led 35-30 heading into the final period. From there, Republic outscored Waynesville 16-7 to wrap up the non-conference victory.

Republic improves to 21-4. Their final regular season game is at home Friday against Branson on Senior Night.
