Wrestlers Finish 6th at Kinloch Classic; Campbell Takes Title

SandridgeThe Republic wrestlers finished sixth out of 23 teams at the Kinloch Classic in Springfield this week. The Tigers tied with Owensville at 273 overall points.

Carthage took home the team title with a whopping 515 points, far ahead of second-place Seneca (360) and third-place Ozark (318).

Republic’s finish is slightly better than last year’s, when they took 7th at Kinloch, one of the biggest annual tournaments in Missouri.

Kyle Campbell was the Tigers’ only champion. He defeated Joe Whittington of Rogersville in a 5-4 decision in the 152-pound finals.

Kerik Crouse finished second at 160, dropping his first match of the year in the finals. Jalen Skaggs of Seneca defeated Crouse in a 9-7 decision.

Cody Sandridge finished 2nd in the 138-pound weight class, losing to Trevor Feagans of Carthage by pin in the finals.

Tanner Willis finished 8th, dropping his 7th-place match in the 120-pound division to Wyatt Harrell of Owensville.

Freshman Brandon O’Connell was 9th overall in the 113-pound division.

Freshman Shayne Piles also earned a top-ten finish, taking 10th in the 285-pound weight class. He lost to Shane Bauman of Bolivar in the 9th-place match by pin.
