Republic’s Jake Wilson won the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick competition held at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday. Wilson was one of four contestants in the 14- and 15-year-old boys division, and won the Kansas City Chiefs team title with a total score of 333’6″.
The scores are achieved by adding the distances of a punt, a pass and a placekick. Wilson’s combined score beat out the other three competitors, who were chosen from among all ten regional winners in Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. (See award announcement at Arrowhead below.)
Wilson had qualified for the Kansas City team championship first by winning the local competition in Republic. He then won the sectional competition, and was one of the top four scorers among sectional winners in the three-state area.
The top four winners of team championships will compete for the national title at an NFL conference championship game later this season.
