Republic’s cross country team had a big day at the Springfield Catholic cross-country meet Tuesday. Ryan Way won the boys race for Republic, and Megan Hergesheimer finished second on the girls side.
In the boys race, Way finished in 16:13.8, beating Branson’s Matt Petersen. As a team, the Republic boys finished third, behind Carthage and Branson.
In the girls’ race, Bailey Hession of Willard outran Hergesheimer down the stretch to win the race. Hergesheimer finished in 19:17, about seven seconds behind Hession.
