The Republic football team is a solid #4 in the district standings, out of eight teams. Heading into the last week of the season, it’s slightly more likely the Tigers will rise in the rankings than fall, because of the way the schedules shake out.
Republic will meet a 5-3 Nixa squad at home on Friday to wrap up the regular season. Because Nixa is a Class 5 school, Republic would get an extra bump in the standings from a victory. But the chances of passing Carthage are lessened by the fact that Carthage is heavily favored to beat Willard in its next game.
Carl Junction is sitting below Republic at #5, with a 3-5 record. They’re playing 5-3 Monett, which is a Class 3 school. It’s unlikely, but possible, that even a win would push Carl Junction past Republic.
Behind Carl Junction in the standings are Marshfield, West Plains and McDonald County. All three of those teams are so close in the rankings that they could be scrambled by the last week of play.
If the Tigers do remain at #4, they will host their game in week 10 against the #5 seed.
