Middle School Runners Finish Season Strong

Republic’s Middle School cross country teams had a strong finish to their season at the large-school COC Meet in Nixa.  The 7th grade girls finished 1st, while the 8th grade girls finished 3rd as a team. Both boys teams showed significant improvement on their times from the previous meet on the same Nixa course.
 
The 7th grade girls earned four of the ten medals that were awarded.  Destinee Tyk took the gold, with Brylee Manes winning the silver medal.  Morgan McGuire and Taytum Carter finished 5th & 8th respectively.  Payton Coskey finished 24th to round out Republic’s scoring.
 
Madison Appleberry led the 8th grade girls effort with a 2nd place finish.  She was the only medalist, but Republic still managed to take 3rd in the team standings. 
 
The 7th & 8th grade girls team combined for a 5-0 season, bringing home a first place finish in each meet entered.
 
Nearly all the Republic boys matched or showed improvement in their time.  The most significant improvement was turned in by Jackson Brown, who shaved two minutes off his previous time.  Lane Coleman was the top 8th grade finisher, pacing 29th out 82 runners.  Owen Davis was the top finisher for the 7th grade boys.
