Republic fell behind on Senior Night, but not for long. The Lady Tigers exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to overcome an early 2-0 deficit, and cruised to a 10-6 victory over Neosho.
The victory came on a night when the Lady Tigers honored their three seniors: Maddy Coates, Stephanie Eckhoff, Rachael Michaelis.
“The seniors have been good leaders for us,” says Coach Lee Dishman. “With a lot of youngsters, we needed some leadership, and these three have really stepped up and showed them the way of Republic softball.”
The Lady Tigers sent 11 batters to the plate in the 1st inning. Their seven-run rally was highlighted by a 2-run homer by Danielle Shelton.
From there, Republic answered Neosho every step of the way. When Neosho scored one run in the top of the 3rd, Republic scored one in the bottom of the third. When Neosho scored two runs in the 5th, so did the Lady Tigers. Neosho plated one run in the 7th, but fell short in their final rally.
Republic improves to 11-4 on the season.
