Personal Bests All Around for Middle School Runners

The Republic Middle School girls dominated the cross-country meet at Willard Thursday, and every runner on the team–both boys and girls–turned in a personal best.

The Lady Tigers won the overall title, and six of the 15 medals handed out. Emma Lucas finished first; Destinee Tyk, 4th; Madison Appleberry, 7th; Brylee Manes, 8th; Tatum Carter, 9th; and Morgan McGuire, 13th. The biggest improvement on the team belonged to McKae Geromini, who knocked a 3 1/2 minutes off her previous personal record.

Lane Coleman was the lone Republic medalist in the boys division, with an 8th place finish. Every runner showed “significant improvement,” according to coach John Berry. “Overall, it was outstanding effort by all runners,” he says.
