Lady Tigers Split Two at Carthage Tourney

The Republic softball team won a game and lost a game at the Carthage Tournament Friday. Republic won its opening game over Carl Junction 3-0 before losing to Platte County 10-3.

In the opener, Stephanie Eckhoff struck out seven batters and helped her own cause with three base hits. The Lady Tigers did all their scoring in the bottom of the second inning, when three runs crossed the plate.

In the second game, Platte County scored two runs in every inning but the 5th. They banged out 13 hits in a 10-3 rout.

Republic managed only six base hits. Eckhoff scored one run and drove in another to lead the offense for the Lady Tigers. Angel Serles and Lauren Strobel also crossed the plate for Republic.
