Republic’s JV volleyball team dropped only one set all day, as they captured the championship of their own tournament.
In pool play, the Lady Tigers swept Branson (25-14 25-22), Salem (25-9 25-13), Forsyth (25-14 25-9), and Buffalo (25-14 25-22).
Their undefeated pool record set up a showdown with Willard in the semifinals, and that would prove to be the strongest challenge of the day.
The Lady Tigers lost the first set 19-25, then clawed their way to a nail-biter of a win in set two, 27-25. In the decisive third game, they won 25-21.
In the championship match against Lebanon, the Lady Tigers won in another sweep, cruising by Lebanon 25-19 25-13.
