Republic’s cheerleaders didn’t have a perfect day at Nixa Saturday — but it was close enough. Both the varsity and JV squads, coached by Shannon Dunn and Victoria Henbest, finished first in their regional competition. The varsity will advance to state competition this fall.
“While neither squad’s performance was perfect, both Victoria and I felt that they had done enough,” says Dunn.
“It was enough to give both squads a first place finish as well as advance varsity on to the state competition in October. I could not be more proud of all these kids!”
The Republic cheerleaders have top-three finishes in each of the last three years at state competition. They finished third in 2009, first in 2010, and second last year.
