Republic golfer Dylan Bekemeier has qualified for the state tournament later this month. Bekemeier shot a 79 Wednesday, finishing sixth at sectionals to move on. Two other Republic golfers, Beau Allen and Pierce Pittman, failed to qualify.
The state tournament will be held at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield. Bekemeier says he’s played the course a lot over the past two summers, including at a national tournament last year.
“I think Rivercut is a nice, challenging course. You have to hit the ball straight to shoot low,” Bekemeier says. “I love the course, it seems to set up for me,” he says. “So I think I have some hope for some low numbers.”
The state tournament is May 14th and 15th.
