It was the best of times for Patrick Dickens at the plate, but it was the worst of times for the rest of the Republic lineup, as the Tigers dropped a home game to Ozark 5-4. Dickens homered twice for Republic, but that was just about the extent of the offense for Republic, who couldn’t overcome an early deficit.
Republic fell behind 5-0 early, giving up single runs in the first and third, and three runs in the fourth. Dickens closed the gap with a 2-run shot beyond the left-field scoreboard in the fifth inning, to make the score 5-2. He slugged another homer past the scoreboard in the seventh to make the score 5-4, but that’s as close as Republic got.
Republic falls to 10-4 this season. Ozark is 8-5.
