Eagles Score Early & Often Against Republic

The Nixa Eagles intercepted a pass from Republic quarterback Nick Williams on the Tigers’ opening drive, scored a quick touchdown, and never looked back in a 35-0 victory at Nixa.

The Eagles scored so quickly on their first three possessions that they had three touchdowns before they picked up their first first-down of the game. Their opening touchdown came on a 7-yard run by Dean Deetz after the opening interception. Their second score came on a 41-yard scamper by Deetz. And their third came on a 32-yard pass from Sam Rehagen to Kevin Shrauger.

Nixa led 27-0 at halftime, and Deetz had 99 rushing yards as the first half ended.

The Eagles added one more touchdown and a two-point conversion to end the scoring. Nixa had 324 total yards of offense, compared to only 83 yards for Republic.

The Tigers were led offensively by Jake Laswell, who rushed for 40 yards on 10 carries. Williams struggled, completing just three of 11 passes for 16 yards.
