The Republic Lady Tigers softball team lost their first game of the season Monday to the Monett Lady Cubs, 8-6 at North Park in Monett.
The Lady Tigers (2-1) sent ten batters to the plate in the third inning and scored five runs. Highlighting the inning was a run-scoring triple by senior catcher Payton Appleberry and a two-out, two-run single by senior left fielder Logan Keck.
Monett (4-1) responded with six runs in the bottom of the third. Winning pitcher Raigan Ratliff retired eleven of the final twelve Republic batters over the final four innings to preserve the victory.
Republic is on the road again tomorrow (August 30) at Hillcrest, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
