The Republic Lady Tigers soccer team won its opening district game against Hillcrest Friday, 5-0. Sara Marcotte scored three goals for Republic, who won their first-ever post-season game.
Republic broke on top when Marcotte scored just two minutes in. Samantha Minor scored about six minutes later, and Marcotte followed up with her second goal 15 minutes into the game to make it 3-0. Brittany Griffith scored her first goal of the season late in the 1st half, and the Lady Tigers led 4-0 at the break.
Republic’s final goal came late in the game, when Marcotte completed the hat trick.
The Lady Tigers will play top-seeded Marshfield, at Marshfield, at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
