Jr. High Spring Football Registration

I got this note about a new Junior High football opportunity in Republic, and wanted to pass it along. High School coach Kurt Thompson will be a part of this program.

Quick Facts
The Ozarks Football League is and shall remain a member of the American Youth Football League, which is backed by the National Football League. Each OFL team shall have a minimum of eighteen (18) players and a maximum of thirty-five (35) players.

Registration Fee – $150 per Player
Fees cover all player costs including insurance, helmet, shoulder pads, jersey, and mouth guard. Pants and football shoes (OFL approved) shall be the player’s responsibility.

All student athletes must play on the team that represents the Springfield high school they will be attending. All student athletes are welcome to join an OFL team, however, home school and other parochial/private (non Springfield Catholic) school students must play for the team that represents the district in which the student resides.

Student athletes shall not reach the following ages prior to July 1, 2009 preceding the opening of school. Grade six – 13 – Grade seven – 14 – Grade eight – 15

Deadlines
All student athletes must sign a waiver form before the first practice. All OFL teams must be selected and paperwork completed by March 12th, 2010. Deadline for registration is March 12, 2010.

Each OFL game shall –

    Be held on Fridays or alternate evenings at JFK Stadium (Parkview High School), Harrison Stadium (Central High School) or other approved stadiums.
    Have a minimum of three MSSHA officials.
    Have four (4) eight (8) minute quarters (Blue Division) and four (4) seven (7) minute quarters (Red Division).
    Have a live stadium announcer.
    Have a live scoreboard.
    Have NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coach’s Association) certified youth coaches (see NYSCA Code of Ethics below).
    Have certified youth equipment.
    Abide by Springfield Public Schools Middle School football rules.

Practice Schedule (2-hour Maximum)
Please check with your team coach for your team’s practice schedule as it may vary from team to team.

March 17, 2010 – Equipment fitting day
March 22-March 26 – Idle (Spring Break)
Saturday, April 3 – First day of practice
