Nixa scored a single unearned run in the top of the third inning, and that was enough to get a 1-0 victory over Republic at Miller Park. The winning run scored after Nixa’s Alexis Leonhart reached on an error to lead off the third. After a double by Jackie Prater, Leonhart scored on a wild pitch for the game’s only run.
In addition to the key double, Prater struck out six in pitching a shutout for Nixa. Republic managed only four hits — by Hailey Johnson, Payton Appleberry, Lakin Ramsey and Brooke Dutton. The Lady Tigers put the leadoff hitter on base four times, but failed to score.
Republic’s starting pitcher, Hailey Johnson, allowed only four hits, but didn’t strike out a batter in taking the loss.
