Hailey Johnson had a big night to lead Republic to a 9-0 varsity win over Cassville in the Tigers’ home opener. The senior pitcher gave up just three hits in seven innings, striking out six. And she helped her own cause at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a home run.
Sophomore Payton Appleberry was 3-for-4 for Republic. Lakin Ramsey, Carlie Campbell and Bre Hemphill each added two hits for the Tigers, who will host Reeds Spring Thursday night at Miller Park.
The JV team followed up the varsity win with a victory of its own, 13-3.
