The Lady Tigers looked like they were in control when they won the first set 25-15, but let the second set slip away. They jumped to a 13-7 lead in the decisive set, but that’s when Parkview turned it around.

Coach Piper Wright says no single part of her team’s play contributed to the third-set letdown, when the Lady Tigers dropped 11 points in a row.

“I really felt like the serve receive was pretty good,” Wright says. “It was just a combination of things. We just weren’t quite executing at the net.”

Wright says as the consecutive points started to add up for Parkview, they got an emotional lift.

“I think we started getting down, and mentally, that will wear on you,” she says. “This game’s all about momentum. Whoever has the momentum is going to take it, and we just didn’t have it on our side tonight.”

Lexi Birlew and Brooke Stanfield had 11 kills each, and Stanfield added four blocks. Maddy Sherman had 23 digs, and Emily Preston contributed 29 assists for the Lady Tigers.

Republic falls to 7-6 overall.

The JV squad won 25-10 25-13. The freshmen won 25-11 25-11.
