Kickapoo overpowered Republic in the Lady Tigers’ opening match of the season, winning in straight sets (25-14 25-14) in Springfield Thursday. The Lady Chiefs controlled the first set from beginning to end. Republic showed a spark of life in the second set, grabbing an early lead before Kickapoo pulled away down the stretch.
Rachael Combs led the Lady Tigers with six kills. Setter Bella Drennan had 12 assists, and Eryn Russell led the defense with nine digs.
Kickapoo’s JV won in three sets, 25-17 22-25 25-19. The Kickapoo freshmen won 25-17 25-13.
Republic will be back on the court at the Branson Varsity Tournament this weekend.
